Emergence is Australia’s only standalone cyber insurance provider, offering protection from cyber risk for both businesses and families.
With cyber risk, the past is not prologue. Threats change from day to day, and no one knows what’s going to be on tomorrow’s risk horizon. Regardless, Emergence prides itself on having a can-do attitude towards risk coverage and claims payment.
The company believes it can do cyber insurance better, easier and smarter. It distinguishes itself in the Australian market with policies written in a language that is easy to read and understand, as well as a broker portal with powerful capabilities yet minimal complexity. The company maintains an in-house incident response team committed to delivering immediate support for cyber incidents – significantly helping minimize damage from cyberattacks.
“Our claims team includes Australia’s first in-house incident response unit providing 24/7 immediate assistance in the event of a cyberattack,” says Colin Pausey, chief operating officer. “The first minutes matter most — and we’re on hand to support clients through them.”
To further distinguish itself, Emergence offers clients top-tier knowledge. The team provides a comprehensive internal incident response and crisis management service and prepares up-to-date security bulletins for brokers to forward to clients, among other measures. This allows their customers access to the expertise they need to protect themselves. This unique offering places Emergence at the forefront of safeguarding Australian businesses in the digital age.
Chief executive Troy Filipcevic leads Emergence with his strategic vision. Along with the senior management team, he brings extensive underwriting, legal, IT, claims and strategic initiative to the company.

In one example of strategic excellence, Emergence – unlike its competitors – was able to maintain its premium rates in the face of last year’s escalating cyber risk landscape. It did so by making considerable investments in underwriting, technology and claims strategies – thereby boosting efficiency and service quality. In addition, the Emergence portal offers brokers a streamlined buying experience.
“Our unique value proposition is that our service is singularly focused on swift, smooth and expert handling of broker enquiries and dealing with cyber claims,” explains Filipcevic. “We offer a 24/7, online broker portal that allows oversight and control over the full life cycle of a policy. Brokers use the portal to quote, bind and customise policies based on their assessment of their clients’ needs.
“We have the largest team of dedicated cyber underwriters in the Australian market, spanning major cities. When brokers deal with Emergence, they deal with underwriters who are decision-makers. Emergence’s incident response and claims handlers are cyber specialists. That’s all they do. They understand the nuances of cyber threats and, crucially, the importance of immediate, proactive communication and public risk management.”
