Troy Filipcevic is the CEO and founder of Emergence Insurance, an innovative underwriting agency specialising in cyber and emerging risk insurance. Under his leadership, Emergence has become a market leader in Australia, known for its disruptive approach to cyber coverage. With a growing presence in Australia and New Zealand, the company is now expanding into new international markets.
Prior to founding Emergence, Filipcevic held senior executive roles at Suncorp, where he led strategy, operational excellence and technology initiatives. His work focused on improving business performance and shaping the company’s technology strategy, experiences that have been central to Emergence’s success.

With over 40 years of experience in law, insurance and management, Colin Pausey has built a diverse and accomplished career. He has managed underwriting agencies in various in-house roles and provided expert legal guidance to insurers and underwriting agencies throughout his time in private practice.
As an insurance law specialist, Pausey established and led the cyber insurance practice at a major national law firm before joining Emergence Insurance. His involvement with the company goes back to its earliest days, when he crafted Emergence’s first cyber insurance policy and handled claims for the business. In 2021, he made the strategic move to join Emergence full time, transitioning from law to take on a key role within the company.

Jeff Gonlin started his insurance career in 1980 in the US, underwriting a wide range of casualty business. With years of international experience under his belt, he sought a new challenge and found it in the fast-evolving field of cyber insurance. In 2016, he joined Emergence Insurance, attracted by the company’s innovative approach and the exciting potential of the cyber insurance market.
As chief underwriting officer at Emergence, Gonlin’s focus is on assessing and managing cyber risks while driving the growth of the organisation in a constantly changing risk landscape. His expertise is helping shape Emergence’s products, playing a key role in the company’s continued success in the cyber insurance sector.

As the head of distribution at Emergence Insurance, she combines strategic insights with a strong ability to build lasting broker relationships. She plays a key role in supporting the business development team, driving growth and improving customer satisfaction.
Before joining Emergence, Hickson had a successful tenure as senior manager of specialist operations at BOQ. There, she led broker- and client-focused projects aimed at enhancing systems and processes, ensuring top-tier service delivery and optimising both operational efficiency and sales performance.

Blake Baxter is an experienced insurance professional with over a decade of expertise spanning insurance, accounting, and the legal sector. A cyber insurance specialist, he has a strong background in building incident response and claims handling functions. He has worked extensively across financial lines claims, including professional indemnity, D&O and cyber and has also gained valuable experience in corporate insolvency, managing complex claims portfolios, liaising with defence counsel and brokers and refining claims handling policies.
Baxter joined Emergence Insurance in March 2020 to establish an in-house claims handling and incident response function. This strategic move has given Emergence a competitive edge, providing quicker and more efficient support to clients and helping them recover faster from cyber incidents.

Throughout his career, he has witnessed and contributed to the transition from mainframe computing to today’s cloud ecosystem, alongside the evolving landscape of cyber risks. He has been part of several pioneering initiatives, including becoming the first APAC customer for Microsoft’s BPOS cloud offering and helping launch Australia’s first “pay as you drive” product.
