Ascot Insurance Group was founded in 2018 after its founder Nathan Ray decided to launch a broking company focused on the specialty of skilled insurance placement solutions for businesses in the hazardous and high-risk industries, including the manufacturing, warehousing, chemical, recycling and supply chain industries.
It has been a challenging start, especially in the past two years with the growth in the number of clients in hazardous and high-risk industries during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time of diminished capacity for these industries.
“Not being able to attend sites and perform risk engineering surveys to best present the clients to the increasingly difficult insurance market was an enormous headache,” says Ray. “However, Ascot was able to successfully provide excellent outcomes for new and existing clients during the two years of the pandemic by ‘partnering with the client’ to present their business and their desired insurance cover to the insurers locally and globally.
“An example was with a particular plastics manufacturing client [that we requested to join] our insurer presentations and explain their investment in the business and future improvements of their factories. The outcome was a premium saving of more than $400,000 and plans for further savings along with a long-term relationship with the insurer.”
Over the last 20 years of his broking career, Ray has seen far too many times the complacency of businesses in the hazardous and high-risk industries with their insurance programs and the considerable impact a skilled insurance broker can have on pricing and risk mitigation. A passion for serving others and maintaining transparent relationships has served as the basis for the day-to-day service and interactions they have with their clients and insurer partners. Over the last three years, Ascot has gone from strength to strength by utilising their specialist skills coupled with friendly, transparent and close relationships with new and existing clients to deliver industry-leading and long-term results for clients and insurers.
Off the back of successes to date, Ascot is now doubling down on its growth with plans to expand its reach and skilled services into helping other industries which have distressed insurance issues. Expertise, transparency, close relationships and long-term solutions are the cornerstones of Ascot’s future growth.
“Local service and a friendly approach coupled with our global reach and extensive experience in the hazardous and high-risk industries differentiate us in the marketplace,” says Ray. “Often, we come up against the corporate brokers who are just unable to deliver on the servicing and personalised approach in the way we do. Relationships and transparency and loving to serve others, I think, is the key difference.”
As a broker, Ascot Insurance fulfills the role of an intermediary whose core purpose is to serve others and ensure that its service is successful for all involved. In addition to the experience of Ascot and its team, the company also benefits from the strength and steadfast support of the global insurance ecosystem. Ascot is supported by a number of insurance partners internationally to assist with the quotation and placement of complex insurance policies with overseas insurers.
