TautSec closes the gap between cyber insurance and cyber risk reduction
Recognised as one of IB’s 5-Star Insurance Innovators for 2026, TautSec has built a model that treats cyber insurance and cyber risk reduction as one connected problem rather than two separate conversations. Its direct API integration with Chubb lets brokers generate a quote, complete underwriting and bind cyber cover online within minutes.
CyberPilot, its risk platform, gives businesses ongoing visibility of their exposure long after that policy is in place. TautSec describes its identity as sitting at the intersection of insurance, technology and cyber security, built to be engineering-led and commercially focused rather than shaped around the underlying technology's complexity.
Removing the friction from cyber cover
TautSec’s quote-and-bind platform uses publicly available cyber-risk intelligence to pre-populate underwriting information. This helps brokers move from a client conversation to a completed submission faster, while they remain in control of the cyber insurance broker journey and can work through the detail with clients before cover is bound.
CyberPilot takes on the prevention side, translating recognised security frameworks, including the Australian Essential Eight, NIST and ISO 27001, into practical, prioritised actions. The platform spans asset visibility, compliance support, cyber-awareness training and a Protection Index that tracks resilience over time. TautSec’s free entry tier, CyberPilot Foundation, lets any business start that process at no cost, while every insurance customer receives complimentary access to CyberPilot Pro.
Leadership built for scale
CEO Warren Zietsman, who has scaled enterprise SaaS and financial-services businesses, joined TautSec with a mandate to extend the platform beyond its home market, a task now shared across a leadership team assembled to match it. He works alongside co-founder and chief technology officer Frank Teunissen, whose background in military and commercial aviation shapes the engineering vision behind the platform.
Chief financial officer Carmen Lei brings the forecasting and reporting discipline behind the company’s expansion into new markets, while chief marketing officer Mariette Snyman is building the brand and public profile needed to win over cautious buyers as TautSec pushes into unfamiliar territory.
Proof in practice
TautSec has already made a compelling proposition for itself. In one example, an external attack-surface scan identified issues that were initially preventing a business from securing cyber insurance. Once its technology team remediated them, cover was secured, and TautSec continues scanning that business's attack surface so new vulnerabilities surface as they arise rather than at the next renewal.
What’s next
Broker channel adoption keeps growing, and complimentary access to CyberPilot Pro is helping TautSec’s insurance customers retain coverage at a high rate. Looking ahead, the company is building out broker and managed service provider relationships across the Tasman, with New Zealand targeted to reach a meaningful share of new business by the end of 2026.
From there, TautSec plans to pursue supply-chain governance relationships in regulated industries internationally, building towards eventual entry into Asia, the United States and the United Kingdom, alongside deepening its carrier and data partnerships with insurers such as Chubb.
