"I am proud to be in the insurance industry, knowing that our products positively impact families, business owners and charities"
Christine Wilson,
Canada Life
After a journey with breast cancer, Christine Wilson understands firsthand how crucial living benefits insurance can be. As Assistant Vice-President of Inside Sales at Canada Life, she leads a Canada-wide team, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as team engagement.
This resilient and dedicated senior leader also makes time to share her personal story on the conference circuit, underscoring the importance of critical illness and disability insurance as an integral part of risk management planning.
“I’m proud to be in the insurance industry, knowing that our products positively impact families, business owners, and charities,” she says.
Wilson joined Canada Life in 2018 as an advanced planning strategist for living benefits, working with top advisors. In 2020, she jumped at the chance to take on a leadership role and helped to build the insurance inside sales team. That experience was a pipeline to the senior leadership position that she holds today.

While launching the program and setting up a newly established team for success, Wilson started Canada Life Comrades, where she strategically paired team members across the country to share best practices and get to know each other on a more personal level. Her knack for building engagement and driving workplace satisfaction enhanced a sense of national teamwork within the inside sales wing.
One of Wilson’s proudest accomplishments was being invited to present at the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Global Conference in Singapore. Despite the conference being cancelled due to the pandemic, her presentation on how to have critical conversations was published in MDRT’s magazine, Round the Table.
Being a cancer survivor has significantly shaped what Wilson considers challenges. She prioritizes work-life balance, exercises daily, eats healthy, and works with a personal coach who provides advice and insight.
Wilson’s passion in the workplace motivates and inspires those around her to achieve their full potential. She takes pride in driving team engagement and creating consensus around common goals. She acknowledges the support and encouragement she receives from her leader and peers as crucial to her team’s success and achievements. She’s committed to helping other female leaders excel in the insurance industry in tandem with building on her leadership skills.
“I’m very fortunate that I love what I do and the people I work with,” she says. “Each day brings new experiences, conversations, knowledge and growth.”
She has played a critical leadership role in Canada Life’s Asian market distribution strategy from a wholesale council standpoint, advocating for the needs and best interests of Chinese-speaking advisors and clients nationwide.
