“I do not take people for granted. Treating people with respect has helped me leverage these connections in a powerful way”
Anita Morgan, TD Insurance
Anita Morgan has built a reputation as a transformative leader who prioritizes a workplace culture that promotes teamwork, celebrates differences, and encourages open dialogue to resolve challenges.
She brings over 15 years of experience working with affluent individuals to her role as a senior manager of claims at TD Insurance. As an insurance broker, she excelled at balancing the expectations of clients and insurers with her expertise and insights while helping insurers implement new products.
Known for her ability to build robust networks and connect with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, Morgan’s proven track record in customer retention, business profitability, and fostering trust with business partners and clients keeps her at the forefront.
“Someone said it brilliantly, ‘Your network is your net worth,’ and I don’t take that lightly,” she says. “I do not take people for granted. Treating people with respect has helped me leverage these connections in a powerful way.”
One of Morgan’s most significant achievements was staying the course throughout her insurance career. She believes greatness lies outside of one’s comfort zone, and when a new role unnerved her or a challenge tested her courage, she embraced that as an opportunity for growth.
She says, “I’ve found that playing it safe doesn’t reap greater rewards or benefits.”
Being on unfamiliar terrain enabled her to hone her listening skills, paying particular attention to the needs of her team so she could remove the roadblocks to ensure everyone had the best chance at success.

Milestones
“This has been extremely fulfilling as I learned that when I have a team of exceptionally smart people, I can lead from behind and watch them grow and become the next leaders of tomorrow,” she says.
Morgan regards her recognition as an Elite Woman of 2024 by Insurance Business Canada first and foremost as an opportunity to serve as a role model for others, inspiring future generations and demonstrating that success is attainable regardless of ethnicity or gender.
“I believe there are many women who came before me and on whose shoulders I stand today that are more deserving,” she says. “It is humbling to receive an award that reflects my work, and maybe the one thing that makes me stand out is that empathy is a word that I embrace and live out each day.”
Morgan articulates a vision for the future encompassing diverse workplaces and corporate cultures that place high value on inclusion and diversity of thought.
She says, “As a Black woman, I faced situations where it was obvious that companies valued my knowledge and opinions on various issues, but I wasn’t valued enough to be given a higher title.”
Those experiences prompted her to seek organizations that fostered an inclusive culture where everyone could thrive.
Having achieved the designations of CIP, CRM, and FCIP early in her career journey, Morgan then branched out and taught at the Insurance Institute of Canada. She led the Ontario initiatives for the Multi-Cultural Network community pillar at TD Insurance, where she oversaw six teams that served seniors a Christmas meal at various locations within the GTA.
Driven to give back to the industry and community, Morgan mentors colleagues in advancing their careers and serves as a board member for the Ebony Women International Insurance Network (EWIIN).
