With over 30 years of international experience in the insurance industry, Shirley Chisholm is a respected leader and a passionate advocate for diversity. In 2009, she co-founded the Ebony Women International Insurance Network (EWIIN), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of Black women and youth in insurance. Through EWIIN, she has created opportunities for mentoring, coaching, and professional development, helping members build confidence and achieve success in their careers.
Chisholm’s commitment to the industry goes beyond her organization. She volunteers as an exam adjudicator with the Insurance Institute of Canada and serves as an evaluator for DECA’s competitions and the Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals. Her professional credentials include the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation and a Certified Risk Management (CRM) Diploma from the Global Risk Management Institute.
Chisholm’s contributions have earned her significant recognition, including the Elite Women Award from Insurance Business magazine, the Leader of Change Award from Business Insurance Canada, and a place among the Top 100 Global Insurance Brokers. She has also been honoured as a Board Diversity Network alumna and featured in the Black Women in Leadership exhibition.
Chisholm remains a driving force for diversity and empowerment, inspiring the next generation to find their voice and make a difference in the insurance sector.
