When Jamil Karimani learned he had been named to Insurance Business Canada’s Top Insurance Brokers list for 2025, he saw it less as a personal milestone and more as a reflection of the path he and his team have taken at BFL Canada Risk and Insurance Services Inc.
In his role as Managing Vice President, he brings entrepreneurial drive and a collaborative instinct that have strengthened client relationships, lifted the firm’s profile, and shaped its culture.
His career has never followed a straight line. Karimani planned carefully but also seized opportunities as they appeared, building expertise across sectors from mining and forestry to senior care, non profit housing, life sciences, hospitality, contractors and real estate.
At every stage, trust and values guided how he approached growth. “I’ve always focused on building relationships, developing expertise, and contributing strategically, but I’ve also embraced opportunities that challenged me and allowed me to grow in unexpected ways,” he says.

Karimani views sustainable growth as an opportunity to bring in new talent, strengthen client confidence, and solidify BFL Canada Risk and Insurance Services Inc’s place in the market. His focus now is on advancing client service through innovation and putting even more into developing people.
He points to data-driven risk analysis as a key area of opportunity but says it has to be balanced with the personal trust that has always guided his work. That mix of strategic vision and cultural awareness has helped position both him and the firm to thrive in a market that prizes adaptability and authenticity.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
