As a national insurance and claims management leader, Crawford & Company Canada was voted as one of the best insurance companies to work for in Canada due to its high employee satisfaction and engagement.
The company’s employee-centred culture emphasizes career growth through training, professional development programs, and mentoring opportunities. From day one, it equips team members with the skills and resources they need to succeed, ensuring a motivated workforce consistently providing exceptional service.
“We work to retain employees with a strong workplace culture and focus on engagement, measuring and monitoring our progress with employee engagement surveys,” says Tracy Rogers, director of human resources. “These survey results drive executive-level action plans to sustain and improve employee engagement.”
To monitor employee satisfaction and engagement, Crawford conducts employee pulse surveys annually. The Fall 2024 survey, completed by 74% of employees, showed that feedback remained positive.
As one of IBC’s Top Insurance Employers of 2024, Crawford prioritizes employee satisfaction through initiatives such as recognition programs, revamped bonus plans, annual pay equity reviews, and compensation band adjustments.
Benefits are adjusted based on employee feedback, and pension plans are reviewed annually to ensure that the funds offered perform well, while continuous learning and diversity efforts strengthen its inclusive culture.
“We want to build strong business relationships that reflect the cultural diversity of local communities,” says Greg Smith, president. “By engaging in relationships with new and diverse suppliers, we further establish our competitive advantage in the marketplace and create a host of benefits for customers and internal and external stakeholders.”
In 2025, Crawford plans to roll out a global applicant tracking system to enhance its recruitment processes and streamline talent acquisition worldwide. The company will also revamp its job grading structure and automate its annual pay review process to standardize key human resources processes, improving data consistency and making evaluations more efficient.
Under the leadership of a forward-thinking team, the global corporation believes its operational excellence initiative will strategically position it to operate more effectively worldwide.
Led by Crawford’s global chief transformation officer, this ongoing project will streamline and enhance internal processes and systems, improving experiences for clients and employees alike.
“The program aims to simplify global processes and software, reducing daily complexities and freeing time and resources for high-quality client service,” Greg Smith adds.
With a team of over 1,000 professionals, including field and technical adjusters, repair estate experts, lawyers, and other specialists, Crawford operates from nearly 40 offices nationwide. This extensive network and diverse expertise enable the company to provide tailored, client-focused solutions that deliver the best possible outcomes.
Its global reach and deep Canadian roots position Crawford to offer everything from high-touch, white-glove service to task-based solutions.
In Canada, Crawford’s global technical services team is crucial in mentoring new adjusters and advancing industry knowledge through whitepapers, webinars, and specialized training programs.
Clients rely on Crawford for a wide range of services, including its key specialty of loss adjusting and comprehensive third-party administration services, including a dedicated Lloyd’s of London department, accident and health, and workers’ compensation.
