“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Three months into the insurance industry, Allicia Tsolis had a clear vision of where she wanted to go. She told her first state manager, “I want to do what you do.” That determination, paired with strong mentorship, set the foundation for a career built on strategy, leadership and large-scale impact.
As one of the Executive General Managers at Suncorp Australia, she led the privatisation of the compulsory third-party (CTP) scheme in South Australia through the AAMI brand, an achievement she considers career-defining.
“This was a groundbreaking, large-scale project of strategic importance, not just for our organisation but for the entire state,” she says.
Being entrusted with shaping a competitive market where none existed before reinforced her ability to lead complex, high-stakes initiatives.
Tsolis brings authenticity, empathy and resilience to leadership, seeing challenges as opportunities to grow.
She says, “I refuse to accept limiting beliefs. The moment you convince yourself something isn’t possible, you’ve already decided your own failure. Every challenge has a solution, every setback holds a lesson and every closed door forces you to find a better one to walk through."
That mindset has shaped her approach to problem-solving and decision-making, allowing her to navigate uncertainty with confidence.
She sharpens strategic focus across the business by asking her team, “What is the single biggest problem we need to solve today?” The question helps cut through distractions and directs energy towards meaningful outcomes.
“You simply can’t overcommunicate when it comes to strategy,” she says, reinforcing her belief in clear, consistent and relentless communication.
Building strong, high-performing teams has been another priority. Tsolis values trust and collaboration, ensuring people feel supported and motivated to bring their best. Creating a shared sense of purpose helps teams understand why their work matters and how it contributes to broader success.
Early in her career, female executives were rare, and proving herself in a male-dominated industry meant constantly pushing to be seen and heard.
She says, “While the landscape has improved dramatically, those early experiences shaped my resolve and taught me resilience. Overcoming those barriers also ignited my commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace for future leaders.”
Believing that leadership comes with a responsibility to drive equality, Tsolis advocates for a workplace where everyone – regardless of gender – can lead and succeed. She recognises that true progress isn’t just about empowering women but also about engaging men as active champions of change.
“Equality isn’t just a women’s issue – it’s a leadership issue,” she says. “When men and women advocate for each other, we create stronger, more inclusive workplaces where talent and potential, not gender, determine success.”
Tsolis is known for challenging the status quo and driving results that leave a lasting impact. Her ability to combine strategic thinking with empathy and authenticity sets her apart, as well as a leadership philosophy that centres on delivering results while prioritising the people behind them.
She wants to be remembered as a leader who invested in people and purpose, built strong, values-driven teams and prioritised the customer. Leaving the industry stronger than she found it – one that is more inclusive, innovative and focused on making a real difference – remains her goal.
