Tom Lima may be relatively new to the insurance industry, with just three years under his belt, but he brings a wealth of diverse experience to his role. Before joining ICIB Brokerweb as a liability broker, he built a strong foundation in criminal law, commercial and residential real estate and not-for-profit charitable organisations. A graduate of the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws, he is also admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand – credentials that speak to his deep commitment to advocacy and client service.
In July 2025, Lima had the unique opportunity to attend the Tysers Summer Academy and shadow several brokers he had collaborated with, further strengthening his relationships within the Lloyd’s market. This experience not only deepened his understanding of how the Lloyd’s market operates but also provided invaluable insights that he brings back to his clients and colleagues.
Although still early in his career, Lima has already shown impressive leadership potential. He stepped up to manage ICIB’s liability division during his manager’s maternity leave, where he led key initiatives and mentored junior brokers. His passion for client advocacy and his enthusiasm for tackling complex liability risks are evident in everything he does. He’s excited about the future and looks forward to making a lasting impact in the industry.
