Taking care of people is at the heart of Sedgwick. Providing a broad range of resources tailored to clients’ needs across casualty, property, marine and other lines, the insurance provider embodies purpose-driven culture in everything it does.
“Our own growth and evolution are testament to our dedication in supporting our clients, customers and colleagues with compassion,” says Vicki Cowell, head of colleague resources.
The global firm distinguishes itself in the industry through several key factors:
Colleague development programs: the firm’s British Insurance Award-winning development program offers comprehensive training and mentoring, providing a clear pathway for career progression at all levels.
“We work consistently to ensure the best possible and sustainable experience for our colleagues. These include access to high-quality work, international mobility opportunities across our wider organisation and development programs,” states Cowell.
The firm’s development platform, Sedgwick University, offers over 800 courses to support career exploration and internal mobility.
Flexible First philosophy: Sedgwick empowers colleagues to be their best selves by choosing where, when and how they work. This approach ensures that colleagues can align their preferred working style with customers' needs.
Colleague engagement strategy: a holistic approach to colleague listening that captures feedback as colleagues evolve, providing valuable insights at key touchpoints.
“Our onboarding program includes regular pulse surveys and probationary reviews to facilitate continuous improvement,” shares Cowell. “Our online leadership circles offer a safe and creative environment to nurture our core value of collaboration.”
Colleague recognition: Sedgwick’s reward platform, Props, facilitates real-time peer-to-peer and people leader recognition. This recognition not only drives a sense of connectedness among colleagues but also reinforces the firm’s commitment to a culture of excellence.
Sustainable business practices: Sedgwick hopes to maximise opportunities for collective impact by 2030. The firm is focused on promoting sustainable programs so the planet can thrive long into the future.
