Since its inception more than 50 years ago, Vertafore has been the technology backbone of the insurance industry. It began its existence in 1969 as Agency Records Control (ARC), providing a card tabulating service — the precursor of what we now call computers — to help independent insurance agents manage their business. Over the following decades, Vertafore continued to innovate and broaden its portfolio to deliver insurance technology solutions for agencies, carriers, states, and managing general agencies.
Born of human-centric purpose, the company empowers its customers with the technology they need to garner trust. Built to adapt, Vertafore equips the insurance channel for the future — transforming business and relationships along the way.
“Vertafore is always innovating to ensure our customers can stay ahead of the needs of their clients and the marketplace,” says James Thom, Chief Product Officer at Vertafore. “We’re building on our long-standing open-platform strategy to help customers better leverage their technology – whether it’s from Vertafore or from our partners. We’re investing in a modern experience for our users. And we’re focused on solving long-standing pain-points in the industry, such as with our latest product, Commercial Submissions.”

“Vertafore is the only insurtech provider in North America that serves the entire insurance distribution chain,” says Amy Zupon, chief executive officer. “Our vision is to make insurance distribution simpler, smarter, and more human for all stakeholders in the marketplace by automating and simplifying processes through the entire distribution channel. We are empowering our users to be more productive and reduce their manual tasks, so they can spend more time building relationships with their clients and partners.”
In 2020, Vertafore found its forever home with Roper Technologies, a diversified technology company. With Roper’s backing and investment, Vertafore has been able to accelerate its commitment to its customers and the industry. Vertafore continues to deliver best-of-breed solutions while leading the industry with innovations in areas like market connectivity, data analytics, user experience, and open-platform architecture.
Today, Vertafore serves 21,000 independent agencies; 1,300 carriers; 600 MGAs; 21 states; and more than 1.2 million insurance professionals. Vertafore’s solutions empower insurance distribution end-to-end by facilitating better connectivity, equipping agencies to improve their client experience, unlocking the power of data, transforming how carriers work with their agencies, and streamlining essential workflows to drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability for all stakeholders.
“Insurance is evolving, and Vertafore is innovating to ensure our customers can stay ahead of the needs of their clients and the marketplace,” says James Thom, chief product officer. “We’re building on our long-standing open-platform strategy to help customers better leverage their technology. We’re investing in a multi-year initiative to create a modern experience for our users. And we’re focused on solving long-standing pain points in the industry, such as with our latest product, Commercial Submissions.”
The company’s strategy focuses on three core areas: empowering independent agencies on their journey to modernize; optimizing distribution management to give carriers the right tools to engage their distribution channel; and unlocking the power of data for the insurance industry. Vertafore’s strategy is built on a foundation of a fierce devotion to customer success and a drive for operational excellence.
