Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is an international collegiate organization with a mission to promote and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science careers. Founded in 1965 at the Ohio State University, GIS has since expanded to represent a growing network of 97 collegiate chapters; 5,000 collegiate members; 24 alumni chapters; and 35,000 alumni across North America – all benefitting from the organization’s world-class programs, innovative partnerships, critical industry support, and expansive campus engagement. Through its GammaSAID (Solutions for Authenticity, Inclusion, and Diversity) strategic initiative, GIS leads the sustainable growth and diversification of the student talent pipeline to ensure that students from all backgrounds are empowered to pursue careers in the insurance industry.

Grace Grant, executive director at Gamma Iota Sigma, has more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 10 years of non-profit leadership in the insurance industry. She joined GIS in 2013 as senior vice president of chapter operations and led the robust growth of the organization, expanding the number of collegiate chapters from 57 to 97 and more than doubling the student membership base from 2,000 to 6,000. She also spearheaded the launch of GIS’s inclusive membership initiative to engage students of all majors and backgrounds for insurance careers, and championed the expansion of the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, including groundbreaking diversity events and initiatives to equip HBCU, female, LGBTQ, Hispanic, and other students from underrepresented groups for success in the insurance industry. Grace has been recognized by Insurance Business America as a 2021 Elite Woman and as part of the 2022 Hot 100 List.

Nikia Jefferson joined Gamma Iota Sigma in January 2021 as vice president for university relations and member services. In this role, she builds on nearly 10 years of student affairs experience in supporting collegiate members, engaging faculty advisors, and expanding growth throughout North America. Beyond GIS, Nikia supports the development of student leaders as a lead facilitator for the North American Interfraternity Conference and several social fraternities/sororities. Nikia earned a BA in Public Relations from Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Alyssa Bouchard is vice president for industry engagement at Gamma Iota Sigma, where she leads industry relations and partnership development. Prior to joining GIS in 2018, Alyssa held roles in the brokerage, human resources, and association management functions of the insurance industry. She has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by APCIA and the Insurance Careers Movement. Alyssa holds a degree in Risk Management and Insurance from Appalachian State University; an MBA in Insurance from Olivet College; and The Institutes’ CPCU, ASLI, and ARM designations. Alyssa lives in Charlotte, NC and enjoys hiking, patio dining, and volunteering outside of work.
