Gridiron Insurance Underwriters is a dedicated managing general underwriter and program manager headquartered in Plantation, Florida and Bend, Oregon. Gridiron offers six distinct yet complementary program verticals, including inland marine (admitted and non-admitted), coastal property, excess liability, artisan contracting, specialty NY construction, and private flood (non-NFIP).
“We believe our strength is in a perfect blend of underwriting discipline, customer service, analytics and providing our customers top-notch technology to access our products more seamlessly,” says president David DeMott.
Gridiron utilizes onsite actuarial, CAT modeling, software development and underwriting processes in a robust effort to ensure excellent product delivery.
The company offers its customers a unique blend of proprietary online products and solutions for easier program access, while still focusing on serving more complex risks and accounts. It has five distinct online portals: Inland Pro, Easy Excess, Flood On Demand, Contractors Plus, and Property On Demand. These portals are designed and built for customers to quote small business with Gridiron in two minutes or less.
“Efficiency, ease of use, and speed while maintaining our underwriting integrity is critical in the smaller premium transactional market space,” says CFO Peggy Vidal.
Gridiron has eight guiding principles which constitute the structure, philosophy and soul of the organization. These principles inspire Gridiron’s daily activities and embody its corporate ethos:
1) Underwriting is the business, and results matter.
2) Relationships and people are the core of the business.
3) Data and technology drive efficiency.
4) Strong corporate culture is good strategy.
5) The team is tireless in the pursuit of opportunity, whether internal or external.
6) Commitment to the grind is a priority.
7) “Think, listen, talk, execute” is a crucial process.
8) This is insurance, let’s have some fun while getting it done.
At the center of these eight pillars is the customer and commitment to customer service. Gridiron believes that underwriting discipline, hard work, technology, and thoughtful commitment to the company and staff is its formula for success and continued growth.
The Gridiron team operates in a family-style workplace where creativity and conversation flow throughout. It is not the typical insurance company of the past. It is a look into the future.
