Arch’s EVP, P&C Programs, Paul Sullivan, embraces the spirit and mindset of Pursuing Better as a leader in the organization. “His job is not simply to make all of the important decisions. He digs in alongside his team, fostering a culture where good decisions get made through a mindset and process of constant improvement,” says Brian Farrell, SVP, programs.
Arch encourages its leaders to continually engage in open communication and listen to feedback, ensuring they’re always open to new ideas and empowered to make important decisions. One example of an essential Arch leader is EVP of the professional liability and cyber division, Marilyn Marshall.
“Besides being extremely talented, Marilyn is an authentic leader and great communicator who helps prioritize activities, fosters creativity, and sets clear expectations,” says Rizzo.
In addition to emphasizing its powerful values and positive leadership, Arch distinguishes itself in the insurance industry by focusing on transparency and collaboration.
“We listen to the voice of the customer to better understand their needs and provide solutions,” says Rizzo. “We follow through on our promises by doing what we commit to doing. This has helped us build relationships but, more importantly, trust.”
Arch stands out in the industry because of its commitment to its partners.
“The average length of our relationship with our program partners is well over 10 years because we’ve been able to build and maintain relationships through effective communication, collaboration, and preparation for whatever the market throws at us,” says Seth St. Amand, VP, program manager.
Their partners value their growth-oriented mindset and their ability to respond to evolving risks and exposures with unique solutions.
Recently, the company has been relying on predictive analytics to optimize business strategies and help themselves and their MGA partners leverage data to make better choices and decisions.
When dealing with Arch, clients can expect to benefit from the company’s vast industry knowledge.
“Arch aspires to be the very best program group in the industry,” says Rizzo. “We are committed to making a difference by developing and launching well-designed programs.”

Brian Farrell, senior vice president, P&C Programs, says, “We are hyper responsive with a strong sense of urgency. We are detail oriented. Everyone does what it takes to get things done. No one is ever too important to handle a minor or difficult task.”
The company’s most important strategy undertaken over the past few years has seen them separate program management and underwriting.
“This allows us to maintain a keen focus on each discipline, optimizing efficiency and maximizing outcomes,” comments Sullivan.
Rizzo adds, “Pursuing Better Together is how Arch Insurance does business. We believe that insurance matters. We care about how it is done and, together with our partners, constantly pursue better ways of doing things. Additionally, a strong focus on predictive analytics has had a positive impact on our business strategy and helped us and our partners make better choices with data driven decisions.”
Arch’s knowledge, expertise and stability brings credibility, trust and gives them a competitive advantage.
Rizzo says, “We are fortunate to partner with expert MGAs, who have been specializing in their niche markets for decades and have in-depth knowledge and an abundance of experience.
“They also share the same strategic vision as Arch Insurance, which is to be a stable market, and provide peace of mind to insureds with comprehensive, well designed, innovative go to market programs that are tailored solutions.”
Sullivan adds, “We can help our partners be more aggressive on the best business. We are very deliberate when evaluating new programs, spending as much time evaluating the partner as the program. These are the people we are going to call partners for the next 10+ years, not just through the next market cycle.”
Arch aims to continue its collaboration with agents into the future while streamlining technology to make data-driven decisions.
“More automation across underwriting, claims, and finance teams to make the process of doing business easier and much more efficient for everyone,” Rizzo reveals.
