In recent years, J&J has executed an ambitious expansion strategy, transforming beyond a regional powerhouse. “In the last four to five years, we decided that it was important for J&J to become a national player,” Burrous says. Now licensed in every state with over 700 employees, the firm has opened new offices in Oregon and completed an acquisition in Minnesota.
Throughout this growth, customer experience remains paramount. J&J has developed an extensive internal report card that monitors every touchpoint – from initial contact through ongoing service delivery – ensuring quality never suffers during expansion.
Beyond business success, J&J demonstrates corporate citizenship through community involvement, participating in initiatives like Trident United Way’s Day of Caring and Habitat for Humanity projects, alongside organizing food and clothing drives.
Ultimately, J&J’s family culture sets it apart. “If you need something as a teammate, I’m going to help you even if it’s not my department,” says Burrous. “I think that’s really the glue of what keeps us together.”

Furthermore, talent acquisition and retention pose a significant challenge and are at the forefront of most business leaders’ minds during this unique time. The insurance industry has been aware for years of a looming talent shortage caused by the Baby Boomer generation’s retirement and is now experiencing a war for talent.
“Monarch has been able to overcome this talent acquisition challenge by staying true to who we are, a family environment with national resources, which is something we will continue to encourage and promote,” says Stavrakis. “When working for a team like ours, you are not another cog in the wheel but have the opportunity to make your mark and grow with us as we build out Monarch 2.0.”
