“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Andrea Larkin is senior vice president, financial lines practice tower and business unit leader at Westchester, a Chubb company.
While her rise to such an influential leadership position is impressive, it has not been a traditional nor linear path.
“I was six months into the industry when I experienced my first pivot. I was an A&E underwriter during the real estate crash,” Larkin says. “This obstacle turned opportunity allowed me to diversify, as I was tasked to shift my focus to other professional liability lines of business. Over time, not only did I become knowledgeable on a wider array of products, but my network – both internally and externally – had expanded materially.”
This was the first of a series of pivots that have shaped her two-decade career spanning underwriting, business development, and distribution.
Larkin says, “Instead of chasing a title, I’ve chased experience. I am a student of the business, continually learning in an effort to innovate and deliver results to my team as well as our clients, trading partners, and Chubb. Each new introduction, whether it be a person I’ve encountered, a line of business, a cross-functional project, or a relocation, has shaped the skillset, business acumen, and outlook I have today. Early in my career, I didn’t realize how much I would appreciate the fluidity of our industry, and I believe my career thus far has embodied that same energy.”
As a woman under 40 and part of Westchester’s executive leadership team, Larkin is known for being a versatile and capable leader. She bucks the trend in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
“The opportunity was one I earned over time. The timing of that first executive appointment, however, took me by surprise as I had delivered twin daughters just nine months earlier. Being entrusted with the responsibility of leading a business while juggling those early days of motherhood is something I am proud of, both personally and professionally. This experience speaks volumes about the environment we’ve cultivated at Westchester, where collaboration and resilience are deeply valued. It’s a testament to both the team and the culture ” she says.
People are a recurring theme for Larkin.
She serves as an executive advisor on various business roundtables and greatly enjoys her work as a coach and mentor, both within and outside of her organization. Underlining her commitment to being a role model and championing women in the industry, Larkin comments, “Representation matters. It’s imperative that we continue to acknowledge, sponsor, and elevate the contributions made by the many talented women in our industry while also attracting, onboarding, and developing the next generation.”

She is driven and keeps a central focus on maintaining a results-oriented mindset.
“Regardless of whether someone is a people leader or an individual contributor, I strive to create an environment that embraces adaptability and empowers individuals to take ownership of their ideas and results. I believe in setting clear, measurable goals and collaborating closely with my team and our individual stakeholders to achieve them while fostering an environment where innovation and open communication thrive. It’s a consultative approach yet, as a leader, I am very decisive. In this market, strategy and speed win.”
Larkin charts a strategic path forward for her team, adjusting to the ebb and flow of the market. She maintains consistency while remaining agile and on the leading edge.
