Jennifer Sharkey is responsible for the strategic and tactical leadership of the executive risk practice area, and oversees all of the firm’s relationships and performance with clients, insurers, and centers of influence with Gallagher.
She has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and is responsible for consulting, marketing and negotiating coverages for directors’ and officers’ liability, general partnership liability, private equity/VCAP, fiduciary liability, fidelity, kidnap/ransom and extortion, employment practices liability, professional errors and omissions liability, and cyber liability.
Focusing on placements for complex risks on behalf of the Fortune 1000, she has a great deal of experience working with clients in the technology, manufacturing, retail, and life sciences sectors. Under her direction, the Northeast Executive and Financial Risk Practice Group has expanded almost eightfold in five years.
Before joining William Gallagher Associates in 2004 (merged with Gallagher in 2015), Sharkey spent 10 years at Willis’s FINEX Group (Boston and New York) as a senior vice president, where she received the Exceptional Performer Award several times. In this role, she was the executive risk practice leader for Willis’s New England region. Prior to that, she worked for over four years as an assistant vice president at Marsh in the Risk Management Practice.
Sharkey was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association (PECFOA), maintains Fellowship in the Council on Litigation Management (CLM), and is an active member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Association (PLUS). She serves on Gallagher’s Diversity and Inclusion committee. She has published numerous articles on directors’ and officers’ liability and speaks frequently on various executive risk topics.
She was a recipient of Business Insurance’s “2021 Women to Watch” award, AIG Broker of the Year in 2018, and is a board member of The Bridge, a financial lines industry mentoring organization.
Sharkey is also active in volunteer work and her community, having served on the Board of Families in Transition, an organization that assists homeless families and having been an active member in the Boston Women’s Volunteer Network and The Junior League as well as Father Bill’s and the American Cancer Society through Gallagher Boston. She has also assumed mentoring for women in the financial lines sector internally and externally.
Sharkey received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Business Administration from New England College. She interned at the United Nations in New York City after graduating, working with the World Conference on Economic Issues.
