“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”
Kelvin Rampersad,
Carte Wealth Management
Nadia Hoyte is the cyber national practice leader for USI Insurance Services and leads the strategy for USI’s cyber team (known as the Cyber Federation).
Her leadership role sees Hoyte strike a balance between the traditional conventions of the insurance industry and the dynamic cyber market.
“I deal with this by being consistently detailed, malleable and open minded. Being consistent involves being forward thinking and forward reaching about my strategy, while acknowledging that sometimes, I have to be flexible about my priorities,” she says.
With new threats emerging continuously she is always alert and inquisitive, remaining informed and attributes this to a “never ending pool of curiosity” along with her Personal Board of Trustees, a group of cyber insurance pioneers that she taps into.
Showcasing her vast industry knowledge and versatility, Hoyte is a valuable in-house expert on:
· Complex Cyber and Privacy Risks
· Technology
· IP risks
Hoyte has a comprehensive understanding of the industry with two decades of experience, including the past 15 years specializing in cyber and professional liability, and she shares her future predictions.
“Cyber insurance will one day be its own line of insurance and not dependent on nor should it be compared to any other line of insurance.”
Her deep knowledge is underpinned with previously being cyber practice leader at a small wholesale brokerage firm, delivering targeted solutions to enhance insurance agency portfolios. In addition, she was senior vice president at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) after beginning her career at Marsh as a speciality broker.
Hoyte leads and is inspired by those who seek to challenge the traditional insurance norms, critical to the continued growth and depth of cyber insurance. This is exemplified by seeking out colleagues with a multitude of contrasting viewpoints.
“I am a leader who believes in surrounding herself with diverse approaches and perspectives. I believe in building up and supporting my team to be their best,” explains Hoyte. “I do not believe I am infallible. I do my best when I am challenged. I believe that the success of my team is built on encouraging them to be their best.”
This is reflected in a range of professional accolades including:
· Zywave Cyber Unsung Hero 2022
· Zywave Cyber Risk Person of the Year nominee 2023 and 2024
· USI recognized as Zywave Cyber Retail Broker of the Year nominee 2023 and 2024
Creating change and improving inclusivity within the insurance sector is also a passion of Hoyte’s. She is a member of Chief, a private network of executives built to drive more women into positions of power, as well as being part of USI’s Diversity & Inclusion Council.
“It is important to support others in finding their own footsteps and to remind more junior professionals that mimicking others sometimes hinders the greatness you can become.”
As a measure of her continued success, Hoyte was named one of IBA’s Elite Women 2025.
Speaking about the honor, she comments, “The recognition comes from my endless pursuit of making the complex digestible.”
