“One day I came up for air and found that the team was well versed in their respective roles, and I realized that we all survived, and we made it to the other side without a single misstep”
Jennifer Wilson,
HUB InternationaL
Jennifer Wilson has a strong background in specialty claims, which evolved into a focus on tech errors and omissions (E&O) and cyber claims advocacy. When the COVID pandemic hit, there was an increasing need for cyber claims expertise in her region, which led her to the position as the national cyber claims lead for HUB International. Next, she landed the role of cyber practice leader for HUB NE. While it wasn’t a strategic career path, one choice led to the next, providing career advancement with each step. It was more of an evolution than a career choice for her.
This trajectory would not have happened without the support of HUB’s leadership. One of the many advantages of working at HUB is the flexibility to shape your career. HUB is a great place to work for the entrepreneur. If you can match your interest and expertise to a client service need, HUB will provide a runway for you to flourish.

“I took over my current role in the height of the pandemic, when the cyber insurance market was experiencing the biggest disruption in the history of cyber,” says Wilson. “Our top talent in the cyber marketing space left to further their careers and I had to step in and pick up the pieces and ensure that our clients’ interests were properly protected while providing exceptional service while simultaneously hiring, training, and managing an entirely new staff. There was an eight-month period where I was working 10-to-15-hour days consistently. It was exhausting and brutal, but then one day I came up for air and found that the team was well versed in their respective roles, and I realized that we all survived, and we made it to the other side without a single misstep.”
Wilson has always been an entrepreneur at heart and always paved her own path. However, she notes that the success of this team, during such a chaotic time would have to be one of the biggest achievements that she’s experienced, though it is not hers to claim.
“This has been a team effort from the word go and I don’t think that it would have been a success with any other group of individuals,” she says. “This has truly been one of the most extraordinary experiences I’ve had professionally and so much of it is due to each team member’s willingness to step outside of their comfort zone, learn a new discipline and most importantly, support one another to provide outstanding service to our clients. This brand-new team started out in complete crisis mode, some staff were leaving as others were joining, so roles were shifting as new hires were walking in the door. We bonded and supported one another through the chaos, and we grew exponentially together. We are an extraordinarily collaborative team and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
Gratitude is an overarching theme in Wilson’s outlook. When you love the work that you do, and you appreciate the people around you, it’s hard not to succeed.
