Debbie Babcock has worked for many years helping to bring approximately 3,000 talented students into the risk management and insurance industry. As associate director of the Katie School of Insurance and Risk Management, she is a “people broker” who connects students with industry through internships, company visits, mentorships, networking events, conferences, and sports outings. Her network of industry professionals allows her to keep students updated on job and career trends and opportunities in the insurance industry. She continues to maintain personal and professional connections with alumni throughout the insurance world, both domestic and international.
Debbie is or has been a board member of the Association of Professional Insurance Women, Spencer Educational Foundation, Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation – Midwest Division, Mid-Illinois RIMS Chapter, American Risk and Insurance Association, and Special Olympics Illinois. She received the President’s Award in 2008 from the American Risk and Insurance Association, and she was the recipient of the Trailblazer of the Year award from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation in 2018. She was recognized as a 2022 IBA Hall of Fame honoree and the 2023 Gamma Iota Sigma Advisor of the Year. She is the advisor for the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma.
