“Our mission is simple: we empower financial planners to spend more time building trust, deepening client relationships, and growing their business”
Chris Arthur, Bold Wealth
Getting the best out of her peers has been the calling card of IBA Hall of Famer Lori Goltermann, CEO of Global Regions and North America at Aon.
The industry legend started in insurance when she took a role at Travelers Insurance in the late 1980s, before she found her passion for strategic problem-solving and client engagement. Goltermann is a true believer that the industry can have a deeply positive effect on society, and embodies this passion in every action she takes in her role at Aon.
“I had incredible mentors who helped illuminate how insurance is truly a force for good, and how its constant evolution keeps it endlessly interesting,” she says. “So, while I didn’t have a set plan from the start, I followed my curiosity and embraced opportunities as they came. That openness to change and learning has shaped my entire career.”
Goltermann’s truly client-centric approach to the leadership roles she has held has allowed her to find innovative solutions for the countless clients she has helped over the years, a contagious attitude that inspires those around her.
“I’m energized by the chance to connect with people – clients, colleagues, and especially the next generation of talent,” she notes. “There’s so much opportunity to drive excitement around insurance and show why it’s a dynamic, purpose-driven industry. I want to help others see why they should want to be part of this field, and why Aon is the place to do it.”
Goltermann was influential in developing the Aon Client Leadership Model – a framework that started as a business-specific solution but now shapes how Aon approaches each client interaction – which clearly underlines the Hall of Famer’s lasting impact on the world-leading firm.
As a leader, Goltermann prioritizes collaboration to ensure her team reaches its highest levels possible. This approach includes an emphasis on individual growth by encouraging curiosity, celebrating collective and individual achievements, and providing opportunities for growth.
“Building a great team isn’t just about assembling talented individuals; it’s about fostering a culture where diverse perspectives are valued, collaboration is second nature, and everyone feels accountable for our shared goals,” she explains.
“I focus on setting a clear vision, communicating openly, and making sure every team member understands how their work contributes to our broader purpose.”
Holding over three decades of experience in the insurance industry, Goltermann has had to remain highly adaptable to maintain at the top of her game. This understanding of the need to continually evolve has inspired Goltermann to adopt a number of innovative strategies throughout her career, elevating her teams’ potential for success.
“What inspires me most – and what has kept me in this industry for over 30 years – is the constant opportunity for growth and transformation. The market is always changing, technology is advancing rapidly, and new generations are entering the workforce with fresh perspectives,” she says.
