His previous firms include Aon and AIG, and he has a diverse background covering contractor, underwriter, retail broker, and wholesale roles.
It was a personal connection that led him into insurance from the contractor side.
“It was the success that my neighbor had running an insurance agency that drew my attention to the insurance industry. It was intriguing that I could specialize in the construction industry but pursue it through a different avenue. So, I set out to be a construction insurance specialist on day one of my insurance career.”
Hall attributes the scale of his achievements to his ability to adapt and evolve.
“My strongest qualities are creativity in solutions and product ideation. I am constantly thinking about different ways to approach the business and challenge the status quo and the way products are being offered,” he explains. “Listening to the market needs and thinking about how products can be designed around that, is something I have a strong skill set for.”
Despite having over 20 years of experience, ascending to the top has presented two major challenges for him to deal with:
time management
managing growth
“As you scale your book of business, you can’t be personally involved in every transaction. Therefore, you must ensure that you have built depth in talent, best practices, and a solid culture on your team to give your clients the same level of performance, product, and service that they expect if you personally handled every deal.”
Recently, Hall has taken on a mentoring and educator role in his day-to-day with clients, colleagues, and his team. To that end, he created “BOR the Tour,” an educational series within the construction insurance specialty to bring insurance agents, brokers, attorneys, and underwriters together to discuss more relevant topics, issues, strategies, and solutions in the construction insurance specialist niche.
Hall comments, “Many of the products and solutions my team has developed over the past decade have become industry standards today, and I am constantly ideating new products and strategies to stay relevant in this industry. But it is not just because of products and services I have created that I have had influence, but also through mentorship and speaking engagements.”
And he also believes that sharing his experiences with the industry and educating clients, underwriters, and colleagues will be what determines his legacy.
“I live by the motto, ‘always hungry, never content’. If you are not thirsty for knowledge, challenging yourself and the way things are being done, as well as embracing change, then you will become irrelevant in the space very quickly,” Hall adds.
