“I will continue to empower and encourage my staff to perform at their best as I have done for the last decade. I will continue to advocate for my clients, embracing new technology and being open to business and industry changes”

Peter Arkley is president of Alliant Retail Property and Casualty at Alliant Insurance Services.
Under Arkley’s leadership, Alliant has experienced tremendous growth to become a leading retail P&C broker in the United States. As part of his responsibilities, Arkley oversees the development and implementation of the Alliant Retail P&C business, hiring and sales strategies, which encompasses a nationwide footprint and 14 specialty vertical practices.
He says, “In my role as a leader of Alliant P&C, I always consider what will make the business better for producers and focus on the benefits we offer to our clients. The ultimate focus is on people – clients and employees alike – who are our greatest assets.”
Arkley joined Alliant in 2011 and created the premier construction risk management team in the US. Spanning his successful career, Arkley has held several leadership roles at leading brokerage firms, including serving as chairman and CEO of the Aon Construction Services Group, along with senior executive positions with Marsh & McLennan and Johnson & Higgins in New York and Los Angeles.
Arkley adds, “I am motivated by the people with whom I have worked side-by-side throughout my career. Now, I am driven to create insurance career paths for future generations.”
Testament to this was Arkley’s transformational gift to the USC Marshall School of Business, which has established the Peter Arkley Institute for Risk Management.
Open to all USC undergraduates, the Institute was founded in 2022 and offers training, mentorship, and internship opportunities and annual scholarships, and has plans to develop a master’s program in the next three years. Steve Wilder, SVP of risk management for The Walt Disney Company, recently announced an endowed scholarship to support the Institute’s Emerging Leaders Program.
Arkley highlights the project as the single biggest achievement of his career, with the aim to enable and encourage students to achieve life-changing careers in the risk management field.
“It makes USC Marshall one of the premier risk management schools in the country and creates a viable feeder on the West Coast into the insurance industry, allowing more students the opportunities to explore risk management by providing scholarships and graduate fellowship,” Arkley explains. “The Institute will continue to provide opportunities to educate and cultivate future insurance leaders and ultimately help shape the future of the insurance industry.”
Arkley counts himself fortunate in his decades-long career and is proud to create a lasting presence to reflect his achievements.
“My mindset is to focus on and serve the next generation of insurance professionals and to leave a legacy within the industry that has offered such rich fulfilment in my own life.”
While Arkley’s ability is renowned, he lavishes praise on the colleagues who have worked alongside him in the industry.
He adds, “I have enjoyed an incredibly fulfilling career working with exceptional people and feel fortunate to be in a position to give back to the industry that has given me so much.”

What are his plans for the future?
On a business level, “more of the same. I will continue to empower and encourage my staff to perform at their best as I have done for the last decade. I will continue to advocate for my clients, embracing new technology and being open to business and industry changes.”
On a personal level, Dixon invests significant time, effort and funds, along with his GT3, to support many charities through his passion for motorsport. From participating in and sponsoring the Thunderbolt Run (which provides tens of thousands of dollars in support for Beyond Blue and Prostate Cancer), to organising and running the Track Knights for Amira charity night where 28 Exotic Supercars raised funds through passenger laps in wet conditions, Dixon states “this is our time to give back to the community and those in need. My friendships and association with those seeking to do the same, allows us to contribute to those less fortunate and raise funds and awareness”.
He adds: “To be able to give back to the community is rewarding and fulfilling. I am honoured to be in a position where I can raise funds for those less fortunate and in need.”
