Starting in the transportation industry in late 2016 as a customer service representative (CSR), Chelsea Sirovatka joined the RPS team in October 2020 as a transportation binding underwriter/broker primarily handling trucking risks along with public and business auto. She quickly moved up the ladder when she joined the industry after graduating from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in event management.
With no prior knowledge or experience in insurance, she started as a CSR and within the first three years, went down the path to become a non-fleet renewal underwriter, a fleet renewal underwriter, and now a new and renewal business binding underwriter/broker for both non-fleet and fleet accounts, primarily handling fleet business. The relationships she has formed in this industry has helped her excel tremendously from the start.
Sirovatka owes her success to her co-workers, carrier partners, and retail agents for being there every step of the way. She looks forward to strengthening those relationships to be an even more vital part of the industry as it continues to evolve. Currently writing almost $10 million in premium, she was named a Top Performer in 2021 after her first full year at RPS.
She says communication is one of the most vital things in the industry and without it, she will not be as successful. She enjoys mentoring the interns at RPS with hopes to gain a teammate to share her love for the industry regardless of its ups and downs. For Sirovatka, it’s important that young people know any job they take on isn’t going to be only highs, and there are frustrations from time to time, but the relationships one makes along the way are worthwhile.
She believes being open, honest, and authentic will get one so much further in the industry and is excited to continue along this road.
