Sherita Hardy is a vice president of relationship development at Amwins Insurance Brokerage. She has been in the insurance industry for over 27 years, with 22 of those years with Amwins. She is a liaison for the national D&I Council at Amwins and leads the Dallas office’s local D&I efforts. She was a member of the first Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) at Amwins.
Hardy is on the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Council and was instrumental in helping them draft and launch their mentorship program in September 2022. She is a member of the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA) Diversity Foundation committee. Through this organization, she has helped them introduce the insurance industry to several students on HBCU campuses as well as Community College campuses. She is a member of the DiveIn Program Committee, was on the Racial Equity team for the September 2022 event, and on this committee for the September 2023 event. She has a strong dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the insurance industry.
She is the immediate past president of the National African American Insurance Association Dallas-Fort Worth chapter (NAAIA DFW) and is one of the founding members of the DFW chapter. She was elected to the NAAIA National Board in December 2022 and is serving a three-year term, which started in January 2023. Under her leadership, the DFW chapter received the inaugural award for “Chapter of the Year” at the NAAIA National Conference that took place in October 2022. She continues the charge of educating, mentoring, and offering financial assistance through scholarships for the next generation of insurance professionals.
Hardy has held a P&C Casualty License since October 2000 along with a Surplus Lines Agent license since March 2004. She has also earned the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation from National Alliance, Accredited Customer Services Representative (ACSR) designation from the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, and the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation from International Risk Management Institute.
She was named in Insurance Business America’s “Leading the Change” feature in September 2020 and then on the “Hot 100” list in December 2020.
