“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

As co-founder and CEO of Property Owners Protection Insurance Company (POPIC), Noah Molnar manages over 80 employees across many different time zones, states, and countries.
Based in California, POPIC specializes in structuring, forming, and managing captive insurance programs for multifamily, student housing, single family, and self-storage owners and operators. POPIC currently manages over 120 captives comprising over two million units.
“People management is the single biggest challenge of my job,” reveals Molnar. “I constantly refine best practices for motivating and getting the most out of my team.”
In April 2024, POPIC was acquired by Alliant Insurance Services.
“This was validation of the tremendous company we have been building since 2016 and Alliant’s vision for the growth of POPIC has me excited about what the future holds for our clients and employees.”
At the age of 33, Molnar has enjoyed remarkable success throughout his 10-year career.
“It comes down to opportunity and execution. Although there is an insurance background in my family, I never thought this was going to be my career path but am so thankful that it is,” he says. “My strongest quality is my calmness under pressure. When things go wrong – and they will – I have the ability to clearly and concisely identify the issue, create a solution, and execute.”
His determination is a key quality. NCAA Division 1 lacrosse for Lehigh University and professional lacrosse for the Denver Outlaws helped him bring his skills from the field to the insurance industry.
“I have never been afraid to fail. Fear of failure cripples many people and often results in paralysis. If you remove the fear of failure, it is amazing what you can accomplish in a relatively short amount of time,” he says.
“There are countless attributes and skills I developed from my athletic career that have directly impacted my professional career, but one stands out the most – showing up on the days you don’t want to and still delivering for your teammates. Not everyone has it every day. Those are the days when it means the most to still show up, ‘fake it ‘til you make it,’ and put in a performance that is worthy of your teammates and co-workers.”
Having a mentor early on in his career was hugely beneficial.
“I can’t stress enough the importance of a mentor and if you don’t have one, find one. It should be a person who shares your values, ethics, and is in a professional position that you aspire to be in,” he explains.
“They don’t need to be in your industry, but they need to be, by your own personal definition, more successful than you currently are. And mentors can change and evolve as you do.”
His hunger and curiosity have enabled him to succeed continuously.
“I knew what my goals were and what it would take to get there, but I wasn’t naïve enough to think I knew everything. Asking questions, not being afraid to say, ‘I don’t know but I will find out,’ and then actually finding out and delivering the answers are how you learn and prove yourself,” he says.
