“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Specializing in liability insurance for the real estate industry, Taylor Forst’s primary responsibility revolves around serving clients who own or manage apartment buildings and other habitational properties.
Upon graduating from Boston College in 2015, Forst joined Chubb in its excess casualty division in San Francisco.
Joining Alliant as a vice president, account executive in July 2023 marked her move from underwriting for casualty at her previous employer to the brokering side of the industry.
One of the core aspects of Forst’s role is assisting in procuring insurance coverage tailored to the specific needs and risks of each client. This involves conducting thorough assessments of their properties, understanding their business operations, reviewing contracts in place, and analyzing potential liabilities.
“The biggest obstacle in my current role is navigating the constantly changing marketplace within a challenging class of business. The liability landscape for habitational properties has continued to pose challenges for a variety of market factors,” reveals Forst.
“This dynamic environment requires me to remain agile and responsive to new trends and market intelligence.”
Forst cites adaptability as her biggest strength.
“I thrive in dynamic environments, adjusting quickly to changing circumstances while maintaining effective communication with colleagues and clients. My ability to remain calm and even-keeled, even under pressure, allows me to approach every task at hand thoughtfully and decisively,” she says.
Forst says her commitment to learning and a proactive mindset are key.
“If you aren’t learning, you aren’t growing, so I am grateful to find myself in my current role where no two days are alike. Each day presents new and unique challenges. I embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth, which drives me to seek out new knowledge and skills that enhance my capabilities.”
Forst has had a very impressive beginning to her career, leading to her receiving the IBA Rising Star award.
“I've been incredibly fortunate that my managers throughout my career have not only been supportive but have also provided me with the right opportunities to thrive. They have acted as mentors, consistently advocating for my growth and development.”
Her communication skills set her a part in a competitive industry.
“Being responsive has been crucial to building my reputation early on in my career. I take pride in promptly replying to emails and answering calls, even when I don’t have all the answers,” she reveals.
“This responsiveness not only demonstrates my commitment to communication but also fosters trust and reliability with colleagues and clients. You want to be the person that both internal and external stakeholders call because they know they can rely on you.”
One of Forst’s biggest achievements is obtaining a CPCU designation through many hours of dedicated time and commitment.
She says, “I learned about other sides of the business that I don’t get much exposure to in my day-to-day role and has also been a great way to network with other insurance professionals.”
