“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

Andrew Davidson, senior broker/underwriter at Risk Placement Services (RPS), has had a remarkable rise through the ranks.
After beginning as a financial analyst for a large publicly traded retailer – a role he quickly realized didn’t suit his skill set – Davidson experimented with sales for a staffing firm before ultimately finding his stride in insurance. What began as a role in retail professional liability in New York City has evolved into a thriving career in wholesale, informed deeply by his hands-on experience in retail.
Davidson balances the demands of a fast-growing practice with the responsibilities of family life – a challenge he meets with support from colleagues.
"My mentors at RPS have been critical," he notes. “They helped me learn to manage my time, allowing me to show up for my wife, newborn daughter, and family all while keeping up with the demands of growing my business and team.”
His biggest professional achievement stems not from a triumphant win but from a moment of failure early in his career as a retail producer. That experience taught him that effort alone isn’t enough. He lives by the lesson, “Hard work only counts if I’m able to perform and close business. I must work both harder and smarter than my competition daily to succeed in this industry.”
What also sets Davidson apart is his deep commitment to empowering retail producers and account managers to grow their book of business. His professional strength is an ability to help retail partners qualify individual accounts and build sustainable pipelines, delivering a strategic partnership.
“Everything I do is aimed at this mission, regardless of individual account revenue. Spanning out and focusing on the next 40 opportunities with a retail partner, not just the next transaction, has greatly improved my ability to help retailers I partner with grow their book.”
His approach is methodical yet people centric. By viewing everyone he interacts with – retailers, carriers, teammates, and leadership – as clients, Davidson has cultivated strong relationships that underpin his success. “Everything I do is aimed at helping others succeed,” he says.
Davidson attributes his impressive momentum over the past year – the most impactful of his career – to the leadership within RPS. With their support, he’s refined his strategy, brand, and professional vision. He’s also quick to recognize the power of consistent feedback and mentorship, crediting regular strategic consultations.
By openly communicating his learning journey to carriers, Davidson receives critical feedback that has accelerated his development and contributed to highly efficient account placement.
Being named a Rising Star 2025 by IBA hasn’t just seen a milestone – it’s become a motivator. “It ups the ante and expectations, which I love,” he says. With a clear vision of wanting to take his team “to the moon,” Davidson thrives under pressure and embraces the accountability that comes with recognition.
Davidson isn’t just navigating the insurance landscape but helping to reshape it with strategic insight, relentless work ethic, and a mission-driven mindset.
