“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

Emmeline Kuo is assistant vice president, account executive at Alliant, within the company’s construction vertical. She has earned industry recognition due to her drive, intellect, and steadfast client focus.
A standout among the new generation of insurance professionals, Kuo’s path into the sector has focused on seizing opportunity. After graduating during the Great Recession, she worked with a few temporary employment agencies.
“One of those agencies had a long-term relationship with a large regional broker, where I quickly recognized my affinity for the work being done and the industry at large,” she says.
This fortuitous entry into the field marked the beginning of a flourishing career in commercial insurance, leading to her current role overseeing a complex insurance portfolio for a national general contractor valued in the billions. Kuo currently manages 74 insurance policies across three business entities and a comprehensive foreign program for that contractor.
Among her most notable achievements is resolving seven years of disputed payroll and premium data between her client and an insurer – an issue that had long gone unsettled. That resolution not only demonstrated her persistence and technical prowess, but an ability to generate real, measurable outcomes for her clients. Her current efforts – marketing all entities for their upcoming program renewal – further reflect her commitment to sustained performance and improvement.
At the heart of Kuo’s success lies a deep respect for communication. Raised as the child of immigrants, she developed an early appreciation for clarity in language and expression – skills that have become hallmarks of her professional toolkit. Her ability to distill complex insurance concepts into digestible advice for clients has earned her the trust of both insureds and carriers.
“As a broker, I need to explain the results of each renewal cycle to my insured so they can clearly understand the market and its impact on their operations,” she says.
Kuo attributes much of her early success to the mentors who supported her. In particular, her first manager continues to be a source of guidance and inspiration. In turn, Kuo is passionate about giving back, offering mentorship to colleagues at Alliant and championing professional development as a means of enhancing both team cohesion and client results.
While relatively new to the industry, Kuo uses her position as an asset. Her fresh perspective allowed her to build her expertise from the ground up and innovate creative, agile solutions for clients. This has positioned Kuo as a trusted voice in her organization and beyond. Named as one of IBA’s Rising Stars 2025, she views the recognition not as a career pivot, but as validation of the path she’s already on.
With a mix of intellectual rigor, empathy, and tireless client advocacy, Kuo proves that with the right mindset and mentorship, a strong start can lead to an extraordinary career.
“I have always considered myself to be an ambitious and high-performing individual with clear internal motivations,” she adds. “I hope to continue moving forward, delivering the best results for my clients, and fostering a supportive environment for my team.”
