Ria Iizuka brings a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and advocacy to the professional liability space. As an underwriter II on AXA XL's Large Commercial Accounts team, she underwrites complex cyber, technology E&O, and miscellaneous professional liability risks and creates tailored solutions for large national clients.
Iizuka leads key broker relationships across the Eastern region, drives client stewardship meetings, and champions cross-selling strategies that deepen account relationships across the enterprise. Previously, she held underwriting roles at Chubb and The Graph Group, where she mentored junior staff, developed protocols in response to COVID-19-related risks, and contributed to new product offerings in the E&S medical malpractice space.
A passionate advocate for equity and inclusion in professional development, Iizuka serves as the Northeast managing director of mentorship and sponsorship for the Asian American Insurance Network (AAIN). She also mentors women in financial lines through The Bridge and was selected for the Professional Liability Underwriting Society’s 2025 LAMP cohort, a competitive leadership program.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
