Profile
Taylor Mensik approached his career the way he approached the football field: with a clear game plan. He knew early that he wanted to work in sales for the creative problem-solving and relationships it involved and management for the chance to work alongside driven, collaborative people. Playing college football taught him how rewarding a hard-working team could be, and it shaped the way he would come to lead. As an area senior vice president at RPS, he pairs that team instinct with a non-negotiable work ethic.
His philosophy comes down to a single line: “You get out what you put in.” Mensik sees success as a matter of how much you want it and how much effort you are willing to invest each day, an ethos that has kept him focused and consistently looking for ways to grow. Reliability, the aforementioned work ethic, and a problem-solving mindset are the qualities he rates most highly in himself, along with a determination to be fully authentic in how he works.
Discipline is what holds everything together, especially in the central tension of his role: balancing growth with service. For Mensik, writing more business and chasing new opportunities cannot come at the cost of the clients already on the books. He manages it by prioritizing carefully and staying responsive and consistent for current and prospective customers alike.
Mensik’s disciplined outlook has produced results early. Reaching his revenue goal within his first three years of production stands as the biggest achievement of his career so far. Of this career breakthrough, he says, “It reflected the consistency, discipline, and effort it took to build momentum early in my career.”
Mentorship has been just as central to his start. Mensik credits two people in particular: Adam Mazan, whose creativity, work ethic, and way of motivating people he replicates with his own team, and Patrick Edwards, RPS workers’ compensation practice leader, whose depth of knowledge and willingness to talk through strategy have made him an invaluable resource. Their guidance has shaped both how he works and how he keeps developing.
For Mensik, being at the early stage of his career has been an advantage rather than a limitation. It has pushed him to stay curious and adaptable, bringing a fresh perspective while earning credibility the steady way: by listening, asking questions, and continuing to build his expertise. That same drive now extends to the people coming up behind him, and he is passionate about sharing as much industry and sales knowledge as he can with younger professionals.
For someone who built his career on getting out what he puts in, Mensik’s IBA’s Rising Star 2026 recognition is less a reward than a higher bar. He says, “It is also motivation to keep growing, continue building on what I have accomplished so far, and set even higher standards for the rest of my career.”
