The lumber industry has been a staple of the American economy for centuries. The industry started with small lumberyards hand processing logs and products and has since developed into a business driven by technology, automation, log scanning and more. For the past 128 years, as the industry has grown, Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company (PLM) has been a valued resource for the lumber and woodworking businesses it serves, providing them with essential insurance coverage and risk mitigation advice to protect their operations.
More than a century later, PLM continues to play an integral role in the lumber industry. In fact, it is now the last standing lumber mutual, protecting more than 5,000 businesses nationwide with property, general liability, inland marine, business automobile, commercial excess liability, equipment breakdown, cyber liability, and employment practices liability coverages.
With its dedicated staff of close to 170 employees, PLM continues to serve the lumber and wood products industries based on its guiding principles. While other companies have come and gone, PLM has maintained its commitment to providing its customers with a stable marketplace, industry-specific resources and quality products and services to serve the unique needs of America’s wood businesses.
