Shantelle Cabir is a Senior Vice President at Newfront, the tech-driven insurance brokerage firm
headquartered in San Francisco. With over a 95% client retention rate and named a 2023 Risk &
Insurance Power Broker, Cabir brings more than 10 years of experience and a deep knowledge of risk
analytics to the field.
Cabir got an early start in the industry. At 16, she was hired as a telemarketer for an insurance agency and
gradually developed a successful book of business through her hard work and dedication to her clients.
Simultaneously, she built a solid foundation of knowledge by mastering the many nuances of her clients
in blue-collar industries, such as construction.
It was at the start of the pandemic in 2020 when she made her pivotal career move to Newfront. “I joined
Newfront because of the leaders’ vision to stay forward thinking and modernize the insurance
experience for clients, colleagues, and the overall industry,” she says. “I knew I was on the right path
when my clients placed their valued trust in me to continue taking care of their insurance needs.”
At Newfront, Cabir has watched the company grow from 200 employees to over 800 employees and
bolster the customer experience by rolling out a new client dashboard – enabling clients to have greater
transparency to their exposures and information. She has also watched Newfront position itself as a
leader in AI-powered technology for insurance. Newfront employs more than 50 engineers to bring
stronger analytics, benchmarking, and transparency to clients, enabling them to confidently make
informed decisions around their program. “Newfront's vision is to de-risk human progress, empowering
business leaders to focus on what really matters for their organizations," she says.
These advancements have enabled Shantelle to spend more time being strategic in finding creative ways to help solve problems for her clients and prospects.
Additionally, Shantelle has focused her time on giving back to her community by being involved in various
associations. She was recently voted in as Secretary of Women in Construction Owners & Executives
(WCOE) California—a national organization focusing on creating opportunities for women led
construction related businesses. In her role, she helps influence legislature and collaborate with other
women in the construction industry.
Cabir was juggling the demands of her current role when another ball fell into the mix: parenthood.
“The biggest challenge in my current role is balancing time between my personal and professional life,”
she says. “As I’ve moved up in my career, I have taken on many more responsibilities. The birth of my son
encourages me to strive each day to be the best mother I can while continuing to climb the corporate
ladder of success.”
Risk management expertise and tenacity are Cabir's strongest professional qualities as she strongly
advocates for her clients and team. “I’ve asked multiple clients why they’ve chosen me as their partner
and one of the recurring themes is their appreciation for my professional expertise and approach to doing
business.”
For one client, a galvanizing company, not only did she deliver a greater safety culture but also a 60%
reduction in premiums and a trending claims rate that has dropped from eight per year to one or zero.
But for her, there’s more to her job than chalking up impressive metrics and winning awards.
“I love what I do because I earn the opportunity to partner with brilliant minds and help their businesses
reach their highest potential,” says Cabir. “Many of my clients have become like family to me and I could
not be more grateful to grow with them personally and professionally.”
