When working with clients or prospects, Steve Callaway takes the time to listen to their needs and goals. Then, he designs a comprehensive risk management and insurance program that compliments the client’s objectives.
Callaway’s training as a CPA enables him to analyze complex financial data and summarize this information to create and quantify a risk management solution.
He has been in the insurance industry for nearly 40 years, during which he supported and serviced commercial clients ranging from five to 2,000 employees. Nearly all his clients either deal with the owners, the board of directors, or the CFO and controller. His CPCU designation enables him to negotiate with underwriters for the best possible outcome for his clients.
After joining Acrisure in 2017, he continued to operate the agency with a focus on organic growth. In 2023, he and his team were active in organizing the Acrisure West platform. Today, he serves as the growth and practice leader of the entrepreneur team, where the producers focus on medium to large commercial property and casualty opportunities.
As a member of the platform advisory board, Callaway aims to ensure the efficiency of the placement of Acrisure’s wholesale business.

However, he recollects one moment that remains vivid.
“It’s all really the culmination of a bunch of small wins rather than one grand moment, but if I had to pick one standout experience it would have to be being interviewed on a national news network live. It was an opportunity to share insights with a broader audience and served as a powerful testament to the significant impact that years of marketing efforts achieved.”
To say that broking is in his DNA is not an understatement, and while Clausen admits to achieving his ambitions, there’s more to come.
“My parents started a family-owned independent agency when I was a child and all I ever wanted to do was help,” he shares. “As I got older and especially through my college years, I found that I was able to increasingly add value to the operation from a technology perspective and through digital marketing. This really solidified my career path moving forward.”
