Steve Love has specialized in workers’ compensation insurance since starting his first company when he was 23. Since then, he has founded two additional retail agencies: a large traditional wholesale brokerage and an insurtech. Through these companies, Love has developed multiple specialized programs, namely Solo X, an instant minimum premium workers’ comp policy packaged with a 24-hour accident policy. It is the best alternative to the assigned risk pool.
Solo X can be accessed through his insurtech, SolePro. Love and his team have built a platform for agents to submit applications, sign, bind, service and renew, all in one place, without having to leave the system. They have built an API allowing for multiple integrations with key carriers to solve the problem of writing small workers’ compensation accounts for all agents.
Creating unique solutions to old-time problems is one of Love’s strengths. His success has resulted in eight company sales, while he has founded new ones in the meantime.
“I lack the ability to sit still,” says Love. “That’s probably why I’ve always got a few things cooking.”
His ability to build lasting relationships has been an important element in his successful career. With a brokerage of over 50 carrier partners, Love has created the connections necessary to make a serious impact when it comes to growth.
But he knows the true key to success: building and fostering a strong team internally. Many of Love’s employees have been with him for 10, 15 or more than 20 years. His work family is his family. He builds a strong team by taking care of them, and because of that, people stay and help grow the companies together. Team-building experiences include cookouts, snow tubing, weekend beach trips and more.
Two of Love’s daughters, as well as his daughter-in-law, work with him in the family businesses. Neighbors and friends are sprinkled in the mix.
Not one for the spotlight, Love has been nominated by his daughter and fellow SolePro partner Hannah Sullivan for a few industry awards, which he has humbly accepted.

“I’m currently building out a special program that will launch in late 2023 or early 2024,” says Love. “Stay tuned. After that, I’ll be taking a 120-day fishing trip around North America.”
